You may have noticed that I've added another list to the right hand side of this blog that shows my blockbuster movies. I love movies, I'm always interested in what other people are watching and think a peek into their queue would be very interesting. Nosy? maybe, but I am very curious.
Latest and greatest from my queue:
Mansfield Park
If you haven't figured it out by now I love love LOVE Jane Austen. That being said this isn't one of my favorites. Don't get me wrong I like it, I watch it every year but it's just not one of my favorites. The lighting is too dark, the acting seems forced and you don't fall in love with the characters. (It's so hard to not fall in love with her characters and yet some how they managed it in this film.) Plus, the best part is the very end where the director has everyone pause while a narrator speaks but that style doesn't match the rest of the film, if it had the film might have been awesome. Until it gets redone to my satisfaction (I know the film industry lives to serve my satisfaction) I'll keep watching it because I love Jane Austen and I love this story in book form even if it didn't translate to the screen.
Peter Jennings: Search for Jesus
Meh. Not really sure what I expected but I found it a bit boring. The most interesting thing was that they gave the historical context to the time that Jesus lived in. I had no idea that he was just one of several radical Jews that was preaching about the Kingdom of God or that so much of the history in the gospels regarding him was probably invented and correlates closely with the Pagan myths of that time. If Constantine had chose the old religions we would have a much different world. Hmm...
Garfield, The Movie
Boring.
Inkheart (blueray)
Still love it and in blueray it's even better than in the theater because you can make your own kettle corn (which I've made everyday for the last 3 days) and snuggle up with your favorite guys in your jammies.
Pink Panther 2
So funny. If you loved the first one (which I did) then this one will not disappoint you. We laughed out loud several times. Good stuff.
My Best Friends Girl
Vulgar. Story has been done several times. Could have still been funny without the vulgarity, I think. Kate Hudson & Dane Cook had awesome chemistry. Jason Biggs was a dull point through out the movie & Alec Baldwin typecast role was *yawn*
Coming up next:
Coupling Season 1 (such a guilty pleasure!)
Miss Potter
Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee
I think. You never can tell with Blockbuster. I had Peter Jennings at the top of queue for over a year before he finally showed up in my mailbox and he was in good company with several others that have 'a very long wait'.
What are you watching these days??
