Yesterday was the longest day of the year and was the perfect end to the most wonderful weekend. There is a calm sense of love and comfort going on in our home right now. I think that a good portion of this comes from the fact that Charlie and I are so stressed out in our daily work that when the weekend comes around we are on our best behavior and work extra hard to make it enjoyable. We relax and do very little and love every minute of it.
Friday
1. Son's scratch allergy test at Texas Childrens Hospital. Over all went well but basically a waste of time.
2. Watched lots of kids movies.
3. Ate Subway.
4. De-fragemented our minds.
5. Whale Wars.
Saturday
0. French toast for breakfast.
1. Son and I went grocery shopping/Charlie went to work.
2. Charlie missed us and came home.
3. Sandwiches & chips.
4. Short stint on the computer for mom (record keeping $)
5. Pool time!! All of us swim & played in the water. Son is getting so confidant. Several hours of fun & no sun burns!!
6. Steak, homemade mashed potatoes, perfect corn on the cob.
7. Son to bed. Out like a light.
8. Charlie & I out on the porch, wine in hand. Just talking.
9. Charlie stayed up and watched kung fu movies.
10. I read in bed - The Duchess.
Sunday
1. Bacon, eggs & toast.
2. Shopping @ Target for non- food items & birthday gifts.
3. Hot dogs for lunch.
4. Hanging out on the porch - at Charlie's request. Mid-day is not my favorite time to be outside but the ice cream treats made it better.
5. Robots - the movie
6. Go buy Charlie a new shirt for Fathers Day.
7. Talked to my dad. Happy Fathers Day Dad! Thanks for all you've done and sacrificed for me, it's not gone unnoticed and is appreciated. I love you.
8. Walmart for the few things Target didn't have.
9. McDonalds.
10. Bath & bed for Son.
11. It poured rain for the first time this June but the sun was still shining. Charlie loves sunny rain. A perfect rainbow was right out our window. Made me remember it was Solstice.
12. Homemade banana nut muffins prepared for the week.
13. Internet issues, resolved.
14. Who will be the next Food Network Star?
15. Ahh sleep.
It really was a divine weekend. I just couldn't stop smiling. So much love and peace and laughter filled our household. Summer is truly here in full force. I try to keep a check on my internal dialogue about the heat and my personal feelings on the subject. Instead I'm focused on things like this weekend. The swimming and fresh corn on the cob and spending time with my boys. Son is loving school. Charlie is busy at work. I am working on my household management skills. Life is good.

growing up in Texas, we learned that when the sun shines and it rains, then "the devil is beating his wife". and, when school got out, we went shoeless all summer. A trip to the grocery store for a pair of flipflops, that was it. The toughest kid was the 1st one to run across a yard full of sticker burrs and not feel it, and the 1st one to run across the melted tar streets...
I'm glad you are fighting less with the heat. The pool sounds like fun!!!!
Thanks for the memories **grins**
