Son's language is growing by leaps and bounds. I've seen some definite improvement over the last month, not only is he trying new words but he's retaining them and using them to get what he wants. It's such a thrill to see him growing and learning and I have great hope that he will continue to improve & self correct during summer school. I'm giving him fish oil & probiotics on alternating days, he takes both with no problems and I think it is contributing to his improvement. He's got the official evaluation at the school tomorrow, we meet his teacher on Wednesday for her observation and recommendations. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a bit freaked out by it. I can see his improvement but I know how difficult/sad it is when your kids is running around sniffing the walls, spinning like a mad man and seconds away from a total meltdown. (Our last doctors appointment went exactly like that.) Of course he was dancing on the table yesterday, mis-stepped and busted his lip open. Apparently taking a non-busted up kid to be assessed is about as possible as play-doh not getting ground into the carpet & staining it pink before you even have a chance to comb it out. I should be hearing back from Texas Children's this week to set up an appointment with the allergy doc. Given his belly probs, skin probs, dark circles under his eyes, and other allergy issues I'm certain he has some kind of food/environmental allergies or sensitives. If that does't pan out our next stop is the Dermatologist and a DAN doctor. We are all geared up for our Cinco de Mayo celebration. Still got some decorating to do but we are super excited. For the menu, I've got shrimp tacos, coffee ice cream and margaritas, ole!
Swine Flu Schmine Flu
I hate the swine flu. Charlie is hypervigilant about germs to begin with and this 'pandemic' is SO not helping. Cinco de Mayo in the park was canceled for us. We can't go to the mall playground. The gym is suspect and the list goes on. I realize that I may a bit laissez faire about it but since I read that my odds of catching it are no different than regular flu I can't figure out what the heck the big deal is about it. It's not as strong and deadly as SARS & avian flu, it responds to the anti-viral drugs and we have access to excellent medical care. I can't tell if it's just a slow news week or if the pharmaceutical companies paid off the news companies to boost their profits but I don't like it!
Momma Mia
I've been a bundle of emotions lately. Worry for my sisters. Tension from the final days of school. Profound sadness from who knows where. Excitement about our cruise & my recent dietary success. And romance... I'm feeling very romantical lately. I'm talking roses and candle light, dancing in the kitchen, holding hands, long looks from across the room, longing for that excitement and companionship where words stumble out of your mouth because you just can't wait any longer to share your whole self and then you gulp air and just smile, stupid silly smiles that mean nothing and everything, exquisitely fine dresses and Italian boat shoes, evening walks, reading books by the lakeshore, surprise gifts of delicate sweet things, a hand brushing hair out of my face, and a kiss - a real kiss filled with passion and love and gentleness, feeling fragile & ultra feminine.
Maggie Gyllenhall - This is my ideal romantic look. Si, I have some work to do but ooohhh so beautiful!
